132Introduction
To empower and provide quality education at an affordable cost, with the tireless drive of famous education evangelist Mirza Azam MP (Former State Minister of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, currently holding Organizing Secretary of ruling party), Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University has been established in Jamalpur district approved by UGC (University Grants Commission) in the year 2013. It is the first private university in Mymensingh division. At present it is located on Nayapara, Panch Raster Morh (temporary campus) comprising 27,000 square feet multi-storied building. Construction of the new and permanent university campus, comprising 1,400,000 square feet on 30 acres of land, is well under way at Foujdari Mor (Centre point of Jamalpur town). The medium of instruction and examination at SFMU is English. Currently, 500+ students are enrolled in various undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate programs offered by nine departments including CSE, EEE, Business Administration (BBA, EMBA), English, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Bangla and Post Graduate Diploma in Library Management & Information Science.
The SFMU campus also offers a spacious auditorium, a large library, game rooms, programing lab, EEE lab, moot court, parking space, etc. The classrooms are well equipped with computers and projectors to assist both students and the faculty. Campus wide Wi-Fi is available for students too. We have an excellent group of faculty members with fantastic academic and research backgrounds as well as our staffs are highly efficient in doing administrative tasks with full security, responsibility and accountability. Most of our faculty members and staffs are from top international and national institutions such as Universiti Utara Malaysia, University of Malaya (UM), DU, RU, SUST, JU, JUST, MEC, JnU, KUET, CUET, BUP, IUT, JKKNIU, KU, BSMRSTU, NU, IU, AIUB, Stamford University, and Northern University etc.
